COLOMBO; State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal said he will cease to be a member of Parliament from Monday (13).
The State Minister said he would resign from Parliament in order to take up the post of Governor of the Central Bank following the premature retirement of Professor W. D. Lakshman on Friday (10).
Returning to his previous position, under the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration, Ajith Nivard Cabraal was the twelfth Governor, assuming duties in July 2006 and vacating his position in January 2015.
Cabral is a nominated member of the parliament representing the Sri Lanka Podu Peramuna,SLPP, led by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The party is expected to nominate a new member to fill the vacancy created by Cabral
