


KANDY : Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan successfully conducted the preliminary examination for the applicants of “Allama Iqbal” scholarship programme on Thursday,June 30 at Badiudeen Mahmud Girls College,BMGC, Kandy.
This is part of Lanka-Pak Higher Education Cooperation Programme,which comprises 800 fully funded scholarships and 200 partially funded scholarships to be awarded to Sri Lankan students to pursue higher education in top ranked universities in Pakistan over a period of 5 years.
The total value of the programme is valued at more than LKR 3 billion and this is the 4th year of intake for above programme.
The examinations were conducted under the supervision of Program Director Khan and Program Manager Javed of HEC, Pakistan and more than 500 students from Central Region of the country sat for the examination.
The examination in Kandy was coordinated by Afzal Marikar, Honorary Consul General of Pakistan Embassy and programme arrangements are handled by members from various civil societies in Kandy headed by Principal of BMGCK.
