COLOMBO: The Serendip Foundation has taken an important step towards creating new educational opportunities for Sri Lankan students aspiring to pursue higher education in Türkiye, following a significant meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Dr. Semih Lütfü Turgut.
The meeting was held on Monday (15) between the Turkish Ambassador and a delegation from the Serendip Foundation, led by its Chairman Amanullah and Treasurer. It marked the first-stage formal engagement between the Serendip Foundation and the Embassy of Türkiye in Sri Lanka.
A key focus of the discussions was the need to identify and encourage Sri Lankan students who are interested in pursuing higher education in Türkiye and to create appropriate pathways for them to achieve their academic aspirations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Semih Lütfü Turgut shared valuable advice on how students could be better guided and supported in exploring educational opportunities in Türkiye. The importance of providing students with proper information, encouragement and direction was also emphasised.
The discussions were centred around the belief that an opportunity for education can transform the future of a student. In this regard, the Foundation expressed its interest in identifying deserving and motivated students and supporting them with the guidance necessary to pursue their educational ambitions.
The meeting also explored potential areas of cooperation between the Turkish Embassy and the Serendip Foundation in connection with the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives in education, livelihood development and community welfare.
