COLOMBO : A Sri Lankan HAJJ pilgrim died in a road mishap in Madinah on Tuesday,July 4, according to the Lankan consulate general office in Jeddah.
Falah Hebshi Mowlana,consul general in Jeddah told Colombo Times that the deceased is Bismillah Travels proprietor Shihabdeen Haji. ” He has met with an accident on Monday and passed away this Tuesday morning in the hospital near Madinah meeqat border.”the diplomat said,pointing out that his remains are lying at Meeqat hospital Madinah pending burial arrangements
The late Shihabdeen was an old boy of Hameed Al Husseinie College ,Colombo ,88-89 Sinhala Medium From LKG upto GCE Ordinary Level.
Those who die in Madinah will be privileged to be buried in the holy burial grounds at Jannathul Baqee where the the followers of the holy.prophet Muhammed were buried.
This is the third death among the 3,500 Lankan pilgrims went for the pilgrimage. Earlier death was due to a cardiac arrest.
