COLOMBO :The Sri Lanka Referees Society made some tough decisions after their officials were assaulted at a post-match event in Ratmalana, where Science College played against St. Thomas’ College on the Air Force Grounds.
Following a brief meeting, they decided that referees would not officiate at Ratmalana, nor at any Science College games, junior or senior, for one year. They also decided that referees would only officiate matches after 15 July that do not involve Science College, and that player jersey number 13 would be suspended for one year.
Additionally, the referees requested maximum security for their officials from the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA). They stated that if any spectators enter the playing area, they will only officiate the game without spectators for security reasons.photos Mirror sports
