COLOMBO : Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Vietnam from May 4 to May 6, 2025.
The visit coincides with the International Vesak Day celebrations and the 50th year celebrations to mark the Viet Nam Reunification Day which was on April 30.
Cabinet Spokesperson Minister (Dr) Nalinda Jayatissa announced that the President’s visit is centered around the International Vesak Day.
During the visit, several agreements are set to be signed, which received Cabinet approval yesterday.
These include:
– Renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the cooperation to machinery production between the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development in Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Industries and Trade in Vietnam
– Signing a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VTETRADE) and Sri Lanka Export Development Board
Minister Nalinda Jayatissa highlighted the significance of these agreements, stating, “This cooperation will provide considerable market opportunities for processed foods, fisheries, garments, and value-added agriculture. The draft MoU has received the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism. Accordingly, the MoU between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board will be signed, as proposed by the Minister of Industry and Enterprise Development.”
In addition, there will be a signing of a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VTETRADE) and Sri Lanka Export Development Board
The visit will also see the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding between the Bandaranayake International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) of Sri Lanka and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.News First
