COLOMBO.: Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum led by N M Ameen bade ‘Bon Voyage’ to three journalists who are leaving for Makkah on Hajj pilgrimage on an invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.
The three journalists who are scheduled to leave for Makkah on Saturday June 9 will include Mohammed Feroze from Vidivelli, Abdul Rahman from UTV and Shameer Rasooldeen from News First.
Speaking on the occasion,on Tuesday, June 4. at the AMYs auditorium , Ameen said that he is thankful to the Saudi embassy in Colombo for recommending three journalists for this pilgrimage.He added that Saudi Arabia had been helping to train media men in various Saudi universities to enhance their experiences in the relevant field.
Sheikh M S M Thassim,director of Seilan Association of Muslim Youths said that the present Saudi ambassador Khalid Humoud AlKhahtani has ambitious plans to various humanitarian services to the people of Sri Lanka. “ Its our duty to lend our hands of cooperation to carry out those activities for the benefit of the nation,” he added
Colombo Times Chief Editor Mohammed.Rasooldeen said that Saudi Arabia had helped Sri Lanka.in good and bad times. “ We have to get its ambassador’s support to exchange visits of journalists from the two countries;” he added.
Feroze also spoke on bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, while the Forum secretary Sihar Aneez proposed the vote of thanks .
