COLOMBO : The first automated border control system (E-Gate) at Bandaranaike International Airport was inaugurated Wednesday , Jan. (28) by the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, the Embassy of Japan, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The system was introduced under a project implemented by IOM with funding from the Government of Japan.
The Japan-funded project, valued at US$ 8.4 million, aims to strengthen border control capacity in South Asia, particularly to enhance preparedness and response to infectious diseases, while improving efficiency and security at Sri Lanka’s main international gateway.
