COLOMBO – Sri Lanka Islamic Centre and the Colombo Young Men’s Buddhist Association ( YMBA) jointly organized an Ifthar ( Ramadan Break Fast ) Ceremony at the Abhayaramaya Temple, Narahenpita on Tuesday April 11.
It was held under the patronage of Chief Incumbent of Abhayaramaya Temple and Chancellor of University of Colombo Ven. Muruththetuwe Ananda Thero.



Member of the Board of Director SL Islamic Centre Dr. Naaz Haniffa delivered the welcome address.
Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Bellanwila Dhammarathana thero said that the Muslim Community fasts with devotion during the Holy Month of Ramadan and fasting is good for Health. Further mentioned “ We all are united today at this hour, without unity we can’t develop the country.”
Moulavi M.S.M. Mujeeb said this Ifthar ceremony has brought all communities under one umbrella which is a good sign for communal harmony. We need these type of events in future and to strengthen our unity and coexistence.
Christ the King CSI Rev. Srilal Karunaratna, Members of Bohra Community, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake, Member of Parliament Tissa Attanayake, Dr. Rajitha Senarathna, Islamic Centre Chairman and Former Saudi Arabia Ambassador Hussain Mohamed, Secretary Shahul Hmaeed Mohamed and Director Moulavi M.B.M. Zarook were also present at the event.
President of the Young Men’s Buddhist Association Mahinda Jayasekera proposed the vote of thanks.
