

COLOMBO : The Sri Lanka International School in Jeddah (SLISJ) donated a consignment of food and other essential items to support communities affected by the Ditwah disaster in Sri Lanka.
The donation was officially handed over by Acting Principal Mr. Harsha Walpita to Acting Consul General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, Ms. Mafusa Lafir, at the school premises on Thursday, 1 January , in the presence of Chairman of the Management Council Mr. Jaavidh Abdullah and Member Mr. Mohamed Arsad Anusar.
The initiative followed an appeal made by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, prompting SLISJ to organize a donation drive among the Sri Lankan community and well-wishers in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. In addition to the relief items, the school also handed over a financial contribution collected through the campaign.
Expressing appreciation for the initiative, Acting Consul General Mafusa Lafir thanked the school management, staff, students, and parents as well as the members of the Sri Lankan Expatriate Society in Jeddah for their generosity, noting that the contribution reflected a strong solidarity with the victims as well as commitment to national recovery and rebuilding efforts following the natural disaster.
First Secretary Anusha Chandrasekara from the Consulate was also present at the handover ceremony.
