COLOMBO : Sri Lanka earned several more medals on Sunday,Oct.27, at the SAAF Senior Athletics Championships 2025.
This year’s South Asian (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships is being held in India.
Sri Lanka’s Ayomal Akalanka won the silver medal, recording an impressive time of 50.29 seconds, in the men’s 400m Hurdles.
Sri Lanka dominated the women’s 400m Hurdles, securing both the gold and silver medals.
Dasuni Kaushalya claimed the gold medal with a time of 58.66 seconds, while Araliya Sathsarani won the silver medal, finishing in 59.24 seconds.
Sri Lanka once again claimed both gold and silver medals in the men’s Javelin Throw event.
Rumesha Tharanga claimed gold with a throw of 84.29 meters, and Sumedha Ranasinghe secured silver with 81.62 meters.
Harsha Karunaratne won the gold medal in the men’s 800m race, clocking 1 minute 51.96 seconds, while Thakshima Nuhansa won the silver medal in the women’s 800m event, with a time of 2 minutes 51.51 seconds.
Sri Lanka’s Nadeesha Dilhani Lekamge won gold in the women’s javelin throw, recording a distance of 60.14 meters, which also set a new championship record.
In the women’s long jump, Madushani Herath claimed gold with a leap of 6.23 meters, while Pehansa Gamage won silver in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.74 meters.
Idusara Rajamuni earned silver in the men’s 200m, clocking 21.42 seconds.
Safiya Yameek earned gold in the women’s 200m, clocking 23.58 seconds.
Sri Lanka’s Rasara Wijesooriya claimed gold in the women’s 10,000m race, finishing in 34 minutes 39.95 seconds.
Sri Lanka claimed gold in men’s 4x400m relay, posting a time of 3 minutes 5.12 seconds.
Sri Lankan women’s 4x400m relay team earned the silver medal.
