COLOMBO: The Ministry of Public Administration has declared Monday, the 19th of September as a special holiday for state institutions as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II whose final journey would take place on the same day.
Last week, the government announced that the 19th of September has been declared a day of mourning in view of the passing of the United Kingdom’s longest-serving monarch.
Thereby, the 19th of September will also be declared a special holiday for all state institutions.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration said, however, that the special holiday will be provided without affecting the essential services of state institutions
