COLOMBO : The government has officially declared National Vesak Week from May 10 to 16, with this year’s State Vesak Festival to be held in the Nuwara Eliya District.
The celebrations will be organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, and the Department of Buddhist Affairs, centered around the Nuwara Eliya International Buddhist Centre Temple.
This year’s State Vesak Festival will be held under the theme: “Let’s associate with noble people with good qualities.”
All public and private institutions, as well as homes, have been requested to hoist the Buddhist flag and decorate with eco-friendly Vesak decorations throughout the week.
