COLOMBO : The visiting State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya and Saudi Arabia Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al Elkheriji signed on Sunday an MoU on Political Consultations between the two foreign ministries of foreign affairs.
The MoU provides a platform for both countries to discuss matters of mutual interests at regular intervals in an organized manner .
During the discussions prior to the signing of the MoU both ministers expressed happiness at the improving relations between the two countries. The two ministers also recalled excellent cooperation between the two countries in the international arena.
They also reviewed the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in all fields, in addition to discussing developments in the regional and international arenas.
The Sri Lankan State Minister expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s assistance to Sri Lanka at various international fora including the UNHRC. He also thanked the Kingdom for rescuing 32 stranded Sri Lankans from Sudan.

The meeting and the signing of the MOU were attended by the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Khalid bin Hamoud Al-Qahtani, and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom
