COLOMBO — The Annual Islamic Religious Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) was held on Tuesday, 21 July, at the Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque to honour the nation’s fallen Air Force heroes.
The ceremony was graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, along with senior Air Force officials, officers, other ranks, members of the Sri Lanka Air Force, and the families of fallen heroes.
During the event, the General Secretary of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, Ash Sheikh Arkam Nooramith, addressed the gathering. Special prayers were conducted by the Imams of the Kollupitiya Jummah Mosque—Ash Sheikh M.B.M. Rizwan (Hashimi), Ash Sheikh Hafil Saeed Jemshid, and Ash Sheikh Abdul Fayeez—seeking the mercy and blessings of Almighty Allah upon the souls of those who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.
Prayers were also offered for the safety, protection, and well-being of all serving members of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the President of the Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque Board of Management , M.A.M. Zakwan, presented a token of appreciation to Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe. In return, the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe. presented a token of appreciation to M.A.M. Zakwan in recognition of his contribution and continued support for the annual event.
