COLOMBO : Sri Lanka Women Lawyers’ Association organizes a webinar on “Issues affecting women during COVID-19 Pandemic” from 5 pm to 6.30 pm,on Saturday June 19
The Webinar has been specifically curated to address the gender sensitive effect and challenges posed by the global Covid- 19 and its aftermath of the “woman”. The widespread effect Covid – 19 has had on developing Countries, especially in the likes of Sri Lanka is astounding. However, has the pandemic affected us all on an equal footing, or has it had more of a gendered impact on women?
The eminent panelists will speak and discuss on pertinent areas affecting women especially during this Pandemic. The discussion focus will be on;
- ‘The Covid 19 pandemic – psychological perspectives’ – Prof. Thilini Rajapakse, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya
- ‘Women vulnerable to sexual and domestic violence and exploitation during lockdown’ – Mrs Marini De Livera, Attorney-at- Law
- ‘Gendered impact of Covid 19 on employment in Sri Lanka: Loss of Jobs, loss of income and increased risks’ – Mrs Shyamali Ranaraja , Attorney-at-Law, Visiting Lecturer, Department of Law, University of Peradeniya

The Sri Lanka Women Lawyers’ Association (SLWLA) is a national voluntary legal professional organization devoted in promoting the interests and progress of women lawyers in Sri Lanka and their legal rights and serves as an educational forum and an active voice for the concerns of women in the legal profession.
