COLOMBO: All Government and government approved private schools will re-open from today (7). The Education Ministry had granted leave to schools from February 7 due to the GCE Advanced Level Examination.
Education Ministry Secretary Prof.Kapila Perera has informed all Principals that from today onwards, schools should be run in groups according to the number of students in each class.
Accordingly, if the number of students in a class is up to 20, classes can be held every day.
If there are 21 to 49 students, the class should be divided into two sections and classes should be held one week apart.
If there are more than 40 students, the students should be divided into three sections.
Relevant subject areas should be covered using alternative learning methods during the times when students are not being brought to class.
The Education Ministry Secretary has further informed that the academic and non-academic staff should report to work as usual.
