COLOMBO — The final round of the Third National Holy Qur’an Competition will be held on 11th Sunday January at 7.30 a.m. at the NH Collection (Mövenpick) Hotel, Colombo. 200 contestants were selected from preliminary rounds conducted in various parts of the country and will participate in the finals.
The competition is jointly organized by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, and will be conducted under the supervision of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Sri Lanka.
The award and felicitation ceremony will take place on 12th Monday January at the ITC Ratnadeepa Hotel, Colombo. The event will be attended by Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, religious leaders, Islamic scholars (Ulama), and the representative of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
On this occasion, a special commemorative memento will be presented, through the Sri Lankan Ministry of Cultural Affairs, to the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of Islamic religious and cultural activities.
All events are being organized with the assistance of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, under the guidance of Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka His Excallency Khalid Hamoud Nasser Alkahtani, Deputy Ambassador His Excellency Yasir Al-Hazimi, and the Representative of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Badr Al-Anasi.
