The ministerial delegation sent by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, conducted a press briefing for the international media, with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan serving as its leader.
The committee members emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the need to shield innocent civilians from Israeli occupation forces’ operations. They emphasized that talks about Gaza’s future and the larger Palestinian issue ought to wait until there has been an instant truce and a reduction in the intensity of the ongoing military aggression.
The committee members emphasized the international community’s apparent inaction in addressing the ceasefire and urgent humanitarian solutions. They issued a warning that the humanitarian situation in Gaza would worsen, and more casualties would result from this lack of action. In order to ensure the prompt and secure delivery of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid to Gaza, the members called for immediate action to secure relief corridors. They made it clear that they opposed any restrictions on the prompt entry of relief supplies.
The committee members also underlined that the ceasefire is currently the Arab and Islamic countries’ top priority. They urged the international community, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, to give this urgent matter top priority. the members also emphasized the pressing need for a credible and serious plan to create a state for Palestine that adheres to international legitimacy. The Palestinian people’s sovereignty and dignity ought to be protected by such a road map.
Today, the committee conveyed their dissatisfaction with the US veto that blocked a UNSC resolution for an immediate Gaza ceasefire during talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Representing the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, the committee emphasized the US’s responsibility to compel Israel to halt its aggression, demanding adherence to international humanitarian law to protect civilians. They strongly opposed forced displacement by the Israeli occupation, emphasizing the need to confront such actions within international and humanitarian legal frameworks.
