CAIRO : SPA — On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah today led the Saudi delegation at the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in Egypt.
In his address, the foreign minister conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their wishes for the success of the summit’s proceedings. He expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian government for the country’s efforts in enhancing regional coordination and consultation regarding developments in the region. He also thanked King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain for his efforts during his country’s presidency of the current session of the Council of the Arab League.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized Saudi Arabia’s categorical rejection of any infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, whether through settlement policies, annexation of Palestinian territories, or attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands. He reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The foreign minister stated that the unprecedented suffering endured by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip requires the international community to unite in efforts to restore normal life in the strip, reconstruct it, and enable the Palestinian people to live with dignity on their land without attempts to alter the reality on the ground. He also emphasized the need for international guarantees and UN resolutions to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire in Gaza, prevent further aggression, and achieve security and stability in Gaza and all Palestinian territories.
Moreover, the minister stressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Authority and standing by it in carrying out its duties, including managing the strip and providing humanitarian services to its residents. In conclusion, the minister expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration that this summit will contribute to achieving tangible results to end the catastrophic consequences of this war, protect innocent civilians in Palestine, and establish a new reality where the region enjoys security, stability, and prosperity.
The Kingdom’s delegation included the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji; Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al Farhan; the Saudi Ambassador to Egypt, Saleh Al-Husseini; the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Matar; and Assistant Director-General of the Minister’s Office, Waleed Al-Ismail.
