

COLOMBO : Saudi Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani visited the free Noor Saudi Arabia Volunteer Program to combat blindness and diseases which was inaugurated on Tuesday, Feb.18 in Walasmulla.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in launched the project in “Walasmulla”, southern Sri Lanka during the period from February 18 to 23, 2025.
During an official ceremony held at the government hospital in “Walasmulla” on this occasion, His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani, delivered a speech and stated that
this noble humanitarian initiative reflects the core values of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which are based on promoting goodwill and providing assistance to those in need around the world, in line with its humanitarian mission.
He pointed out that under the leadership of the Custodian of the two holy mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud , pays great attention to humanitarian initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life of individuals , especially in the field of health. The “Saudi Noor” project reflects this commitment by seeking to provide the necessary medical care for eye patients in Sri Lanka.
He also mentioned that “we believe that the blessing of sight is priceless, and that contributing to combatting eye disease and bringing back sight to thousands of patients is a great humanitarian work that carries a message of hope and optimism.
Also, He expressed his thanks and gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, the International Basar Foundation, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health of Sri Lanka, the Director of the Government Hospital in Welsamulai, and its employees for their efforts to make this program a success.
In a speech delivered by the Director of the “Walasmulla” base Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Siraj, he expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for providing this humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Sri Lanka, which reflects the distinguished relations that have existed between the two countries for a long time. He also praised the efforts of His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani in strengthening the distinguished relations between the two countries to a greater extent in all fields. The doctor referred to the assistance provided by the Kingdom through the Saudi Fund for Development in implementing more than 15 development projects in various fields, especially in the health sector in Sri Lanka and building 500 housing units in eastern Sri Lanka to distribute to those affected by the tsunami disaster, as well as the humanitarian assistance provided by the King Salman Center. He also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom’s government for all these efforts, wishing for the continuation of these relations between the two countries.
