
COLOMBO : Saudi Ambassador in Colombo, Khaled Hamoud Alkahtani, announced here on Friday, May 12, that the Kingdom has completed the implementation of all humanitarian evacuations of its citizens and nationals of brotherly and friendly countries from the Republic of Sudan, which came under the directives and follow-up of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince And in response to requests received by the Kingdom from many countries of the world.
The humanitarian evacuations carried out by the Kingdom included 8,455 people (404 Saudi citizens, and 8,051 people belonging to 110 nationalities, including 32 Sri Lankans), who were evacuated by fleet of Royal Saudi Navy vessels and Royal Saudi Air Force planes.
The Kingdom also assisted brotherly and friendly countries in evacuating (11,184) people from its nationals to the Kingdom and then to their home countries, and provided them with full care and follow-up throughout the evacuation operations and after their arrival and stay in Saudi Arabia and until their departure from Saudi Arabia.
The Ambassador added that his Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes this opportunity to express the Saudi government’s thanks and appreciation to the brothers in Sudan for their cooperation in facilitating the evacuations. It also expressed thanks to all the governments of brotherly and friendly countries that followed up on the affairs of their nationals who were evacuated from the Sudanese territory and cooperated in ending the procedures regarding their return to their home countries. On the other hand, the King Salman Center for Relief sent five relief planes until Friday (12) within the Saudi air bridge to help the Sudanese people, carrying food baskets, shelter and medical materials. Stressing the Kingdom’s keenness, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince, to extend a helping hand to afflicted and affected communities around the world through relief and humanitarian programs and projects that alleviate their suffering in order to live a decent life
