COLOMBO : “We are prepared to support the government, if they stop playing stupid political games and willing to genuinely serve the nation” said Opposition leader and leader of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya Sajith Premadasa. He said “as a party we have no hesitation to contribute our specialized knowledge on behalf of the people of the country”.
Tisse Attanayake revealed that “We may have to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government on the forthcoming presidential election but it would only be for a short term period”.
Meanwhile it is also reported that a plan is underway to establish a new political alliance between United National Party (UNP) and Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB).
There is seemed to be an understanding that the new alliance will commonly agree to nominate Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Presidential Candidate with a covenant that Sajith Premadsa to be appointed as Prime Minister.
A survey conducted by a national health institution reported that the vote base of the SJB has heavily increased during the past exceeding the popularity gained by the JJB or JVP during the aragalaya (People’s Protest) period. It is also reported that 30% of voters would not use their vote to any political party or candidate.Srilanka news
