COLOMBO — The Russian School of Ballet & Dancing marked its Silver Jubilee with a spectacular Russian classical ballet concert, “Once Upon a Silver Stage,” held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre recently.
The event commenced with a captivating opening performance that set the tone for a memorable celebration of artistry, culture, and excellence in ballet.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Levan Dzhagaryan, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and his spouse, Madam Anita; Secretary to the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka, (Retd.) Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha and his spouse, Dr. Rasika Perera; Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka–Russia Friendship Society, and Chairman of the Centre of the Russian Geographical Society in Sri Lanka; distinguished ambassadors and diplomatic officials from embassies in Colombo; special guests; parents; and well-wishers.
The concert celebrated 25 years of the Russian School of Ballet & Dancing’s commitment to promoting the rich tradition of Russian classical ballet in Sri Lanka while nurturing young talent and strengthening cultural ties between Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation.
The Silver Jubilee performance showcased the dedication, discipline, and artistic excellence of the school’s students and instructors, making the evening a fitting tribute to a remarkable milestone in the institution’s journey.
