PANADURA: Residents of Eluvila staged a mass protests against the opening of a liquor shop in their area on Friday Aug.11
The demonstrators included people of Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic faiths and also comprising the members of their respective faiths.
The people who gathered signed a public petition urging the government NOT to open liquor shop which would pollute the sanctity of Eluvila which has a temple and a mosque coupled with government schools where hundreds of children study.
