COLOMBO : Chairman the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation (SLRC) Reginald Cooray tendered resignation from his post on Wednesday, January 6.
Reginald Cooray had summoned his staff of the SLRC to inform his departure from the office and had left the government vehicles and other documents at the Rupavahini office.
His resignation comes after the Government’s decision to make changes to the high ranking posts of State Media Institutions and other institutions.
It had also been decided to make a change to the SLRC Chairman’s Post.
Chairman of the National Library of Sri Lanka Sonala Gunawardena had been selected has been named to replace Cooray at the SLRC.
Both Chairmen had been informed that there would be a reshuffle of posts.
Thereby, Reginald Cooray was to be appointed as the Chairman of the National Library of Sri Lanka, while Sonala Gunawardena was to be appointed as the Chairman of the SLRC.
Handing in his resignation on Thursday, Cooray has expressed his displeasure in such an swap of positions.
