MATTALA : Red Wings Airlines, Russia, Commenced its Winter Flights to Mattal Red Wings, one of the ten largest Russian airlines, specializing in scheduled and charter passenger transportation, commenced its winter flights to Mattala with six (06) weekly flights to MRIA (every ten days, one additional flight will also be there) starting from 28th October 2025.
The airline will operate Boeing 777-200, with a seat capacity of 412. The inaugural flight for the winter season, with 402 international tourists, arrived at MRIA at 12.10 hrs today (28th), and the flight was ceremonially welcomed by a water cannon salute offered by Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Private) Limited (AASL).
It is great to see the key stakeholders, such as Aitken Spence Travel, getting engaged with this type of charter operator, handling the passengers, and promoting the destination to attract international tourists to the country. Tropical Aviation Services is the GSA for Redwings Airlines at MRIA.
The airline has scheduled flights until April 2026 and expects around 130 flights to Mattala during the winter season.
