A respected professional in the corporate sector of Sri Lanka, Goonawardena has over 35 years of experience in both private and public sectors. Starting his career as a Management Trainee he has risen up the ranks to become a Chief Executive Officer. He has also held directorships in several companies in both private and public sectors. Over the years, He has gained extensive knowledge and experience in key areas such as finance, hospitality and property development.
Deeply committed to the nation’s development, Goonawardena has been involved in key areas of the public sector in Sri Lanka. Providing strategic input, he served on the board of several state owned enterprises, and in the capacity of Advisor to the Minister of Tourism Promotion, as well as Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion.
Goonawardena’s highly effective PR and communication skills, and diligent work ethic have enabled him to effectively build excellent relationships with industry leaders both locally and internationally. He has also nurtured long-standing relations with prominent business individuals as well as key public figures in the Maldives.
