COLOMBO : In welcoming Ramadan, I, on behalf of the Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka, the staff of the High Commission, and my family, wish to extend our most heartfelt wishes to all the Muslims in Sri Lanka. This revered day marks not only the beginning of Ramadan, the month where we are fasting but it also serves as a reminder of the values of patience, compassion, and unity that this blessed month brings to us all.
As we come together to mark this special occasion, let us take a moment to reflect on the values embodied by the MADANI vision—a clear representation of Malaysia’s dedication to inclusivity, integrity, and long-term prosperity.
These principles resonate deeply with the spirit of Ramadan, a month that teaches us patience, empathy, and self-discipline. Just as fasting fosters self-control and compassion for others, the MADANI vision encourages us to build a society based on mutual respect, shared values, and collective progress. In this time of reflection and joy, our thoughts turn to the broader sense of community and cooperation that guide our diplomatic and cultural exchanges, aligning with the unity and solidarity that Ramadan inspires.
As Malaysia assumes the Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2025, we are committed to strengthening ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia as well as the ASEAN region. Just as Ramadan brings people together to support one another, Malaysia’s leadership in ASEAN will be focused on fostering a sense of community, mutual respect, and collective progress for the benefit of all, ensuring a brighter and more harmonious future for all members of the ASEAN region and beyond.
As we observe the fast and come together in reflection and devotion, may this blessed month of Ramadan be a source of immense peace, spiritual growth, and blessings for all of us and our loved ones. Let us carry the spirit of patience, generosity, and unity in our hearts throughout Ramadan and beyond, fostering bonds of friendship and understanding that transcend borders and cultures.
Ramadhan Kareem and Happy fasting . Jazzakallahu khairan
