COLOMBO – Chairman of the Puttalam Urban Council, K Baiz, 52, passed away suddenly on admission to the Puttalam hospital on Sunday night.
Baiz had been the deputy minister for livestock development and was one of the founder members of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress,(SLMC) which was initiated by its founder leader. He was the first national organizer of the SLMC during its inception when founded by M.H.M.Ashraff.
Currently, he is a member of the SLMC High Command, headed by incumbent SLMC leader Rauf Hakeem.
According to family sources, he was rushed to the hospital following a road accident on Sunday evening.
He is survived by his wife, son and three daughters. Funeral arrangements will be notified in due course, the sources added.
