PUTTALAM- The Quazi court judge in Puttalam, Dr. Mohamed Rahmathulla Mohamed who was appointed to Puttalam Quazi court recently is alleged to have been assaulted by the area parliamentarian Ali Sabry Raheem.
Speaking to Colombo Times, Mohamed said the Puttalam legislator had asked him to come to his house at night on Sunday,March 26 and when he entered his house, the MP and his son-in –law had beaten him urging him to leave his job and return to his native place. “ I was really shocked when they started beating me and I asked them what mistake I did for them,” the Quazi judge added. They replied saying that the judge should get out of his present post and that is the wish of the Puttalam Jumma mosque, he added.
Subsequently, the judge has been admitted to Ward No Seven at the Puttalam hospital and taking treatment following an entry at the police station.
Mohamed who was appointed Quazi judge recently by the Judicial Service Commission had assumed duties on March 1.
