



TOKYO : President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is on an official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Government, held a roundtable discussion with leading Japanese business leaders on Monday ,Sept.(29) at the headquarters of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
The discussion took place with the participation of Ishiguro Norihiko, Chairman and CEO of JETRO, and Fumihiko Kabayashi, Chairman of the Japan–Sri Lanka Business Cooperation Committee (JSLBCC) and Chairman of ITOCHU Corporation.
President Dissanayake outlined the new investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka and elaborated on the measures taken by the government to foster an investment-friendly environment while eliminating fraud and corruption. The President also emphasized the importance of further strengthening trade cooperation between Sri Lanka and Japan, one of Sri Lanka’s key economic partners, underscoring the mutual benefits such collaboration would bring.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Governor of the Western Province Hanif Yusoof, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan Professor Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy Dr. Hans Wijeyasuriya, Senior Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs Duminda Hulangamuwa, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the event.
