Eid Message from Rauf Hakeem, Leader of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Rauff Hakeem
COLOMBO : At the end of a month-long fast in the Holy month of Ramadan, we unite to pray even more fervently to the Almighty to provide all communities relief from the most perilous times we face today. We unite in our prayers especially at a time with the new strains of the pandemic’s spread in our country.
Unlike in the past year, 2020, the morphing strains of the fast spreading coronavirus is irking our communities more virulently this year. We are drawn to seek God’s protection and mercy even more fervently today for relief for our communities and for return to normalcy.
This year too, stricter health regulations are an imperative. We are duty-bound more than ever before to strictly follow health regulations, amidst closure of schools, universities, commercial sites, affecting lives and livelihoods of our people.
We also include in our prayers the global Muslims who suffer political turmoil, injustice, economic embargos, poverty and famine amidst the pandemic challenges.
On this blessed day, let us also pray for peace, reconciliation and economic prosperity; relief from ethnic strife and hardships among all communities in Sri Lanka.
