COLOMBO : Residents of Palmyrah Avenue, Colombo 3, urgently appeal to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to address the dire state of their road. This business-cum-residential road, on the sea side, nestled between 8th Lane and Schofield Place, is riddled with potholes, causing immense inconvenience to residents and motorists alike.
Flanked by landmarks, a popular bookstore ( Jeya Book Centre) and a reputed private bank owned by the oldest department store in Sri Lanka (Cargill’s Bank – Corporate Branch), Palmyrah Avenue serves as a key passage in this bustling area. Yet, its deplorable condition leaves everyone bracing for a rough ride.
Imagine this: a pregnant woman navigating this road could face more than discomfort—she might risk premature delivery! The situation is that severe.
It’s time for action. The residents humbly request the CMC Commissioner Mr. Palitha Nanayakkara to get the road development division to urgently repair these potholes. And if not, perhaps they should consider setting up a maternity ward/clinic or consider relocating an existing one along the road to care for the premature babies this hazardous journey might cause!
Over to you, CMC—time to smooth the ride for everyone
