ISLAMABAD : Following the killing of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara in Sialkot, a delegation of the Supreme Court Bar led by Senator Ali Zafar met the Sri Lankan High Commissioner and assured him that the state would inflict severe punishment on the accused.

Senator Ali Zafar in a meeting with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that the Supreme Court condemns the tragic incident on behalf of the Bar, the Supreme Court will appoint a lawyer who will oversee the Priyantha case.
He said that the whole nation was ashamed of the Sialkot incident. The Prime Minister said that such incidents could not be tolerated at all. The tragedy of Sialkot was against our religion and culture.
Senator Ali Zafar said that I have spoken to the Sri Lankan Bar, we stand with the affected family, our journalistic community will also keep the issue alive, this issue will never become routine.
On the occasion, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that the people of Pakistan were grateful for their support and were satisfied with the response from the Prime Minister and all parties.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that the legal community immediately looked into Priyantha’s case and the business community was also grateful for what Priyantha’s family had done. The people of Sri Lanka were satisfied with Pakistan’s action.
He said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka are old friends, Sri Lanka and Pakistan gained independence at the same time, Pakistan has always sided with Sri Lanka, we are always with Pakistan.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that this incident would not make any difference in the relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and hoped that Pakistan would take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in future.
