COLOMBO : Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Muhammad Junaid Anwar ,who is on a two-day official visit tp Colombo said here on Tuesday, December 9 that Pakistan is always ready to provide all possible humanitarianand technical support to our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters.
The visiting minister was addressing the media at his embassy after he distributed dry rations to deserving families who were affected by the floods. Pakistan High Commissioner in Colombo (Maj General Faheem ul
Aziz) was present at the event.
” On behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif, the Government, and the people of Pakistan, I
offer my heartfelt condolences on the loss and damage caused
by the recent cyclone “DITWAH”.
Pakistan stands with Sri Lanka in this difficult time with full
solidarity and sincere sympathy.
We deeply admire the quick actions taken by the Sri Lankan
Government and the courage shown by the affected
communities.
Pakistan is always ready to provide all possible humanitarian
and technical support to our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters.
As I speak to you, Pakistani teams and other rescue personnel
are already here, helping to protect lives and support relief
efforts.
Following the special instructions of our Prime Minister, a
major humanitarian assistance package has been sent.
Our High Commissioner in Colombo (Maj General Faheem ul
Aziz) and National Disaster Management Authority are closely
coordinating with relevant Sri Lankan authorities to ensure
smooth and timely distribution of the relief consignments that
have arrived so far.,” he added
Pakistan and Sri Lanka share a long history of friendship, deep
maritime ties, and mutual respect.
” We wish to further strengthen cooperation in disaster
management, maritime safety, and early-warning systems.
We also believe that regional countries must work more closely
to deal with climate-related challenges, which are increasing
every year. Pakistan also faced large floods few months ago.
I want to assure the people of Sri Lanka that Pakistan stands
with you as a reliable friend and partner. today and always
I am confident that with your strength, unity, and
determination, Sri Lanka will soon recover from this disaster and
emerge even stronger,” he concluded.
