COLOMBO: Long queues at the petrol stations were the agony of the motorists who came to top up the tanks of their vehicles.
A motorist said he joined the queue at Mount Lavinia around 5.30 am on Poya Day on Thursday,March 17 and could not reach his turn till 4.30 pm.
There was a separate line for three-wheelers which was much longer than the queues for the other vehicles.
“ Half of my day has gone standing in the queue which means half-day earnings are lost.” Athree-wheell driver told Colombo Times.
Some of those who want to enjoy a long weekend from Poya Day were disappointed at the shortage of petrol since they could not work out their journey out of Colombo because of the current fuel situation.
