COLOMBO : The 47th Convocation of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka commenced today ( 27th March 2021) afternoon at the BMICH. Saliya Pieris, PC was inducted as the 26th President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, taking over from the incumbent President Kalinga Indatissa, PC.
The convocation is graced by His lordship Jayantha Jayasuriya PC, Chief Justice, Ali Sabry, Minister of Justice, Dappula De Livera PC, Attorney General, Arjuna Obeysekera, President of the Court of Appeal, Sanjay Rajaratnam PC. Acting Solicitor General and many other distinguished guests.
Anura Meddegoda PC was elected as Deputy President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka short while ago. Rajeev Amarasuriya, Attorney -at- Law will assume office as the Secretary of the BASL for 2021/2022 at this Convocation. Rajindh Perera, Attorney-at-Law was elected as the Treasurer uncontested.
