COLOMBO : ‘Suba Aluth Avrudhak,’ ‘Iniya Puththaandu Nalvaalththukkal,’ Happy New Year and Season Greetings to all those celebrating in Sri Lanka and around the world.
Although this is my first New Year celebration in Sri Lanka, I have already witnessed how the people of this beautiful country uphold and promote cultural diversity and harmony. They celebrate all traditional events with equal zeal and fervor.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have exemplary relations which are rooted in shared cultural ties and mutual respect and understanding. Excellent people-to-people contacts have remained the hallmark of our bilateral relations.
The year 2022 was among the most difficult times that Sri Lanka has experienced in terms of economic crunch and health-related restrictions. However, the resilience of the Sri Lankan people has remained exemplary during these tough times. I am sure that with their indomitable resolve, the government and people of Sri Lanka will overcome these challenges.
I sincerely hope and pray that the new year brings prosperity and happiness to our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters. We are also confident that the relationship between our two countries will be further strengthened in the time ahead.
