COLOMBO : As Sri Lanka enters the new year 2026, I emphasize that the Ministry is committed to rebuilding the nation through policy-respected global involvement, prestigious foreign jobs, as well as a modern and sustainable travel economy. This is an opportunity to stand up with disciplined reform and renewed self confidence.
By strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships, regaining international trust and positioning the country as a trustworthy and effective global partner, we are moving forward Sri Lanka’s foreign policy clearly and balanced. Current diplomatic efforts should provide direct support to restore economy, attract investments, open trade roads and protect national needs.
Foreign jobs remain an important part of our economy. In 2026, the Ministry’s priority is to protect Sri Lankan employees abroad, expand safe and legal immigration routes, identify skills, improve and ensure respect, welfare and fair treatment for every Sri Lankan working abroad. Manawa trained and safe workforce, improves pressure flow and boosts wild credibility nationally.
The tourism is currently being re-positioned through the sectors of quality, sustainability and proof. While Sri Lanka’s international brand is trending, our priority is in maintaining regional equality and global standards, giving parties high value through an eco-friendly tourism movement that protects communities and maintains regional equality.
Rebuilding Sri Lanka requires corporate strength, clean state governance and active relationship with the world. This ministry, guided by the government vision, will continuously work with international partners, private sector and the Sri Lankan diaspora to secure development, opportunities and long-term national stability in 2026 and beyond.
