NEGOMBO : The Negombo Regional Criminal Investigation Division has arrested a person who broke into locked houses and stole valuables of quarantined persons warded in hospitals.
According to the police, the burglar had broken into five houses in the Negombo area during broad daylight.
The stolen items are estimated to be Rs 3,50,000
The stolen items include electrical appliances, televisions, computers and gold jewelery.
The police arrested Kosala Fernando, 36, a resident of Negombo, was arrested in this robbery
Police have recovered some of the stolen items after an investigation. The suspect was also found to be addicted to drugs.
Police, led by Regional Criminal Investigation Division Officer Samintha de Selvi, have arrested the suspect and are conducting further investigations on the advice of Negombo Senior Superintendent of Police Saman Sigera.
