NEGOMBO : Negombo Divisional Secretary found dead after hanging himself at his official residence.
In the morning on Wednesday,May 31st, the driver of the vehicle came had waited outside the Divisional Secretary’s official residence located at Udayarthopu, Mendis Mawathe, Negombo. The driver was told that the Divisional Secretary was not answering phone calls. As the divisional secretary did not come out for a long time even though the doors were open, the driver went inside and found the secretary hanging from a string of rope.
42-year-old Ayesh Perera had committed suicide. He had assumed duties as the Negombo Divisional Secretary a few months ago.
He hailed from Ratnapura. His wife had a miscarriage and the baby died. It is reported that the wife, who was shocked by this, is seriously ill and is being currently treated at the hospital.
Negombo Police reached the spot and took the body to the Negombo District General Hospital for further investigations.
