COLOMBO : I wish to draw the attention of the Mayoress, Her Worship V. C. Balthazaar, to the deteriorating condition of the walking track at Cooray Park, Peterson Road, Wellawatte. This park—frequented daily by many residents including my cousin, Mr. Nowzan Kamil—has regrettably fallen into serious disrepair.
The once well-maintained paved track is now overgrown with shrubs and weeds, making it unsafe and unpleasant for walkers. The surrounding grass has not been properly trimmed for months, creating potential hiding spots for snakes and other harmful creatures, thereby posing a serious risk to regular users of the park.
In line with the Government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, I earnestly request Her Worship to instruct the relevant municipal maintenance staff to clear the overgrowth, remove unwanted vegetation, and restore the park to a safe and usable condition for the benefit of the community.
A video illustrating the current state of the park has been enclosed for your reference.
