COLOMBO: “ Under a national program, we are glad that the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural launched a home gardening program at the Dehiwela Mosque grounds to help people become more dependent on their home gardens for their food,” its minister Vidura Wickremanayake told newsmen on Saturday.June 25.
He was speaking to the press following the launch of a grow more food campaign in your home gardens which will be implemented in all religious worshipping places in the island including the religious schools in Buddhist temples,Hindu temples. Churches and mosques. He hoped that the project will be successfully implemented in all gardens aorund religious places in the country
Under the concept of “A better Tomorrow from Righteous Farming” National Program of Expeditious Food Crop Production – 2022” the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs,MRCA, and the Colombo District Mosques Federation, launched a of Home Gardening program at the Dehiwela Muhiyadeen Grand Jummah Mosque on Saturday, June 25.
The event hosted by the Director of Muslim Relgious and Cultural Affairs, was attended by Vidura Wickramanayake, Minister of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs as the Chief Guest.
MRCA Director Ibrahim Sahib Ansar delivered the welcome address , while Somaratne Vithanapathirana , Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs made the keynote address. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Ash Sheikh S.H M Sukurdeen, Assistant Secretary of the Colombo District Mosques Federation.
