COLOMBO – The Ministry of Buddhasasana Religious and Cultural Affairs and Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs had conducted Islamic Religious Observance and special religious events for the people who have died and are affected by the natural disasters in the country .
The Islamic Religious observance was held at the Wellawatte Jumma Mosque on Tuesday December 9.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr. Rizvie Salih and Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Munir Mulafer were present.
Department of Muslim Religious Affairs Director M.S.M.Nawas and All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulama President Ash Sheikh M.I.M. Rizvi Mufthi also addressed the gathering.
Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Munir Mulafer said that disaster victims lost their many things in affected areas. Some have lost their jobs, lost their loved ones , lost their properties and their businesses.
He further said that many people helped in many ways and he thanked the Security Forces, Officials of the Health Sector, Disaster Management Unit , Local Government , Volunteers and Religious Leaders for their contributions.
Colombo Margas Rashadiya Arabic College Lecturers Ash Sheik M.I.M. Zakeriya and Ash Sheik M. S. M. Ihsan conducted prayers (duha) in Sinhala and Tamil languages.
The officials of the Ministry of Buddhasasana Religious and Cultural Affairs and Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and Trustees of the Wellawatte Jumma Mosque were also present athe evening event.
