COLOMBO : The Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF) releasing a statement said on Monday that it vehemently condemns the merciless brutal attacks on Palestinians and the media institutions.
It has also condemned the brutal attack of Israeli forces on Palestinians and the condemned the apartheid Israeli Government for unleashing its anarchic activities against unarmed Palestinians for the last several decades and engaging in the massacre of people and to wipe them out from their own land.
The present wave of its brutality started with the attacks on worshippers at Al-Aqsa mosque during the latter part of holy month of Ramadan and targeting residential areas and office buildings in the Gaza strip which is a self-governing region of Palestine and massacring civilians by the Israeli forces. This is going on for nearly two weeks under the guise of targeting the enemies.
This has been the routine for Israeli forces to carry out unprovoked attacks on civilians during holy month of Ramadan every year. Owing to the air strikes of Israeli Air force more than 180 Palestinians including 50 children have been killed while more than 1000 sustained critical injuries in Gaza region so far. The attempt of Israel to undertake ground attack on Gaza has further created a tense situation in that area”, SLMMF said.
For the past few weeks the Israel has been trying to forcibly expel hundreds of Palestinians from Jarrah, an area neighboring Jerusalem and to establish the settlements of Jews. A thirteen storied building where the Associated Press and Al-Jazeera offices were functioning in Gaza was completely damaged with air strike of Israeli Air force. Several Palestinian journalists who were reporting from the battle field were also critically injured by the gun shots of Israeli forces.
The SLMMF is perturbed by the silence of the so-called superpowers towards this savagery and the inaction of the world bodies such as the UN Security Council.
The Palestine problem remains the longest unresolved issue. Hundreds of thousands innocent civilians including children and elders have been massacred so far. So many resolutions have been passed against Israeli regime for its illegal occupation of Palestinian lands and none is respected by the Zionist regime.
“The attacks of Israeli forces against the Palestinians were increasing day-by-day. While condemning such merciless attacks we call upon the international human rights watchdogs including the United Nations Organization as well as the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to act fast to put a full-stop to thus continuing savagery of Israel,” the statement added
Meanwhile, the action being taken by the social media institutions to remove the posts being uploaded to their sites supporting condemning the Israeli brutality are also reprehensible. The SLMMF considers this as an attempt to supress the voices raised against the violation of human rights.
“We call upon the Muslims all over the world including Sri Lanka to pray for the immediate recovery of Palestinians who were critically injured and undergoing treatment with poor facilities and for the restoration of peace in Muslims’ holy land of Palestine,” the statement concluded .
