COLoMBO : The Special General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF) was held on Saturday, 26 September 2026, at the Auditorium of the Department of Government Information Under the chairmanship of SLMMF President M.B.M. Fairooz..
The ceremonial session was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, . Dr. Semih Lütfü Turgut, as Chief Guest, while the Former Ambassador and senior diplomat P.M. Amza delivered the keynote address titled “Media and Public Diplomacy in the Digital Age.” Director General of the Department of Government Information, Harsha Bandara, also attended as Guest of Honour.
During the session, the SLMMF’s new official website, www.slmmf.lk, was launched, while a new fellowship programme aimed at developing the next generation of journalists was also introduced.
N.M. Ameen, Founding Patron and former President of the SLMMF, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the Forum and his services in the media sector spanning more than three decades.
The Forum’s annual report was also presented, and a memorial observance was held in remembrance of deceased members of the organisation.
The business meeting was attended by SLMMF members, during which the proposed amendments to the Forum’s Constitution were presented for consideration. The amendments were unanimously approved and adopted by the General Assembly.
The amendments include changes to the Forum’s organisational and membership framework in response to developments in the media sector.
