COLOMBO — Muslim Ladies College felicitated its student Haleema Mohamed Nazim on Wednesday, April 22, , in recognition of her outstanding achievement on the international karate stage. The event was held under the patronage of the Principal, Mrs. Nasriya Munas at the school auditorium.
Haleema represented the Sri Lanka Schools Karate-Do Federation at the 15th Silent Knight International Karate Cup 2026, held recently at the Titiwangsa Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Competing in the Junior Team Kumite (Female) category for ages 14–17, she secured the position of first runner-up, earning a silver medal. Her performance stood out in a highly competitive tournament that featured participants from numerous countries.
This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Sri Lankan schools’ karate and reflects the dedication, discipline, and skill demonstrated by Haleema and her team.
Appreciation was extended to the Principal, Mrs. Nasriya Munas, the school administration, Deputy Principal Mrs. F. Akeedha Nauman, Deputy Principal Mr. Azmi Kariepper, Senior In-Charge Mrs. Rizana Hamsadeen, Teacher-in-Charge of Sports (POG) K.L.G.P. Madhuranga, Teacher-in-Charge of Karate (MIC) M. M. Prasanga Abeysekera, and the assistant teachers overseeing karate, for their continuous guidance and support.
Further recognition was given to her coach, Mrs. Randini Ranwala, the school coaching staff, and the coaches of the School Karate-Do Association, whose dedication played a vital role to her success.
This achievement is also shared by the school’s Karate Committee, parents, the School Development Executive Committee (SDEC), the Past Pupils’ Association (PPA), and her family, all of whom have provided unwavering support.
Haleema was wished continued success as she strives to bring further honour to Sri Lanka on the international stage.
