COLOMBO : As part of its emergency response efforts to help combat the Covid19 pandemic in the country, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, with the funding support of UNHCR donated essential medical equipment worth LKR 5.5 million to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (CSTH). Both handing-over events took place on June 22.
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) received a High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy apparatus, a C-PAP/B-PAP machine and a Multipara monitor. The equipment were handed over by Muslim Aid’s Country Director – Faizer Khan, to the Director of the NIMH – Dr. Dhammika Wijesinghe and the management of the hospital.
Later in the day Muslim Aid handed over a High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy apparatus and a C-PAP/B-PAP machine to Dr.Sagari Kiriwandeniya – Director of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (CSTH). Muslim Aid staff and hospital staff were present at the event.
Muslim Aid is planning to donate a further LKR 30 million worth of medical equipment and PPE kits to the health sector to handle the Covid-19 outbreak and ensure provision of adequate support to frontline workers and efficient hospital services to patients.
