COLOMBO : A multiple-vehicle collision on the Southern Express Highways reported on the Southern Expressway on Wednesday, April 14.
According to the city traffic, the mishap had taken place between Gelanigama and Dodangoda involving eight vehicles going toward Matara. No casualties were reported from the incident.
“Traffic towards Matara on Southern Expressway has been interrupted due to 8 vehicle collisions between Gelanigama & Dodangoda. We request drivers to maintain speed & distance between vehicles” The Road Development Authority said.
Due to the long weekend in view of the Sinhala/Tamil New Year, the traffic on the Express Highways was heavy since people were going back to their native homes.
According to the RDA, the revenue of Expressways during this period has exceeded Rs.135 million.
